Montpelier Community Builders, Inc.

Groundbreaking

The Montpelier Civic Center project started in June 2008. From the onset, our group, the Montpelier Community Builders, committed to praying daily for this project. Because of the many obstacles in front of us, we knew that without God's help this project would not succeed. The success of this project stands as a testament to prayer answered and to the generosity of our community.

The timing of this project proved to be a miracle. Steel prices and construction costs were down significantly in 2009. Any other year, we could not have afforded to build this building. Our OCRA grant was approved on our first try because of the low number of groups submitting that year due to the recession. Typically, we would have twice the competition and we would have needed a second round (which we did not have) to get the grant. Also, because of the federal stimulus money, the grant from the USDA was much larger than typical. If we were a year earlier or later we would not have been able to build this building.

The Montpelier Civic Center exists to promote health and fitness, education, and positive community relations.

The Montpelier Civic Center is available for a myriad of uses. All members can work out in the well-equipped fitness rooms, or walk and play in the gym. In addition, the conference room and gym are available to rent for receptions, parties, meetings, and classes. The Civic Center offers fitness classes, strength training, as well as other activities.  In addition, the facility is used for many community events and programs.
